The Jahra police have arrested an Asian expatriate for possessing about 170 bottles of locally-manufactured booze

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: Five persons were arrested by Hawalli securitymen, after the officers observed their car was moving in an erratic manner, in the midst of loud music and requested the driver to pull over. Upon interrogation, the officers detected the driver, and his four other companions were intoxicated.
Moreover, 33 bottles of imported gin were found by police, after a search they carried out inside the car. The culprits have since been referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.
Police grab infiltrator: Patrol officers from Abu Halifa spotted an Arab expatriate walking at night time and requested him to provide his civil ID, which he could not. Subsequently, he was arrested by the officers and referred to the police station. During investigation, he confessed to infiltrating into the country via a certain GCC country about six months ago. He was referred to the concerned authority for further investigation.
Vehicles impounded: Securitymen iss-ued 90 citations and impounded 33 vehicles during a traffic campaign launched in Farwaniya. Citations were issued for violating traffic rules and regulations, failing to wear seat belt and for not renewing car documents, say sources.
The campaign will continue in all parts of Farwaniya, add sources.
Expat hurt in fire: An Asian expatriate in his 30s suffered fourth degree burns while trying to douse a fire that broke out in a restaurant in Hawalli area Friday. The victim, who was an employee of the restaurant, was referred to Mubarak Hospital.
Sources say firefighters rushed to the scene on receiving information and put out the fire quickly. Misuse of cooking oil and wrong storage methods reportedly caused the fire.

Police crackdown on illegals: The Ja-hra Night Duty patrols during a crackdown on vice and violators of law in the vicinity of the Amghara Scrapyard have arrested 20 people for staying illegally in the country after the expiry of their residence permit, 12 people wanted by the Criminal Investigation Department and 15 for not holding IDs, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The police have also arrested two Bangladeshis and two Afghans who allegedly entered the country through illegal means.
In other news, the same police have impounded four vehicles and arrested four youths for reckless driving and holding races against each other in residential areas.
Asian ends life: A 33-year-old Asian man recently allegedly ended his life by strangling himself to death inside his room in Murgab, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Acting on information, police and paramedics rushed to the spot and referred the remains to Forensics.
Police are investigating the incident.
