Filipina abducted, raped, robbed Manhunt launched for killer as building ‘guard’ found murdered
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: An Egyptian guard of a building was brutally murdered in his room in Hawalli on Saturday. Sources say the murderer slit the Egyptian’s throat, leaving him in a pool of blood.
Securitymen, including high-ranking officials, and Criminal Evidence Department men rushed to the scene on receiving information about the murder and started investigations.
Sources say securitymen arrested several suspects and summoned the deceased’s friends to find a possible motive to the crime. One of the suspects is a building resident who allegedly used to visit the guard several times after the water supply to his flat was disconnected. Sources say securitymen are expected to solve the case soon. Meanwhile, the victim’s remains have been referred to Forensics.
Filipina abducted, raped, robbed: Police are looking for two unidentified persons for impersonating police and kidnapping a Filipino woman, raping her and stealing her money, reports Al-Shahed daily.
In her complaint to the Nugra Police Station, the woman said the men stopped a taxi she was riding in and said they were police. Then they ordered her out of the cab, took her to an apartment at an unidentified location, raped her and stole her money — 5,000 Egyptian pounds, $20 — and her cellphone.
Then they gagged her mouth to prevent her from screaming, dumped her in a suburb of Nahda and drove off in a white car.
Editor to pay libel comp: The Court of First Instance recently upheld the verdict of the Civil Court and ordered the editor-in-chief of Al-Seyassah newspaper Ahmed Al-Jarallah and journalist Salem Al-Wawan to pay KD 5,001 to MP Adnan AbdulSamad, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to case papers the lawsuit was filed by the parliamentarian accusing Al-Jarallah of publishing an article written by Al-Wawan which he said had damaged his reputation.
In its final ruling the Civil Court ordered the defendants to pay the MP KD 5,001.
AbdulSamad had sued both men for KD 200,000 compensation.
Celebration of a different kind: Commenting on reports that some people are performing their own rituals at the 16 graves which were reportedly found in the camping area in Mutla’a the Ministry of Interior says these people, in no way, are violating the laws, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting a ministry source.
The source added the people have done nothing wrong because they have been only commemorating some historical icons. The celebration went on for several days and was attended by scores of people who arrived at the spot in their cars.
The source added according to campers there were competitions and prizes were won during the celebration.
Forged entry bid foiled: Officials at the Salmi border post recently foiled an attempt by an unidentified Ethiopian man to enter the country on a forged passport, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The man has been referred to the authorities for interrogation.
Fight ends up in burnt woman: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti woman for throwing boiling oil at an Arab woman, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the victim was manning a food promotion stall at an exhibition. The suspect stopped at the counter to taste food. She felt the food was tasteless and was involved in an argument with the victim.
She then allegedly lost her temper and flung the vessel containing hot oil at the saleswoman.
The Arab woman has been admitted to the Al-Babtain Hospital for Burns and the Kuwaiti taken to a police station.
Car cleaner takes KD 1,000: Police are looking for an unidentified Bangladeshi for stealing KD 1,000 from the car of a Kuwaiti man, reports Arrouiah daily. The incident happened in the parking lot of the Adan Hospital.
In his complaint to the police the man said he asked the suspect to clean his car and went to visit a relative at the hospital. He said he completely forgot that the money was in the car.
When he returned he found the money missing and the Bangladeshi was nowhere to be found.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the thief.
