18 arrested in apartments raid Police grab man for brewing
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Per-sonnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested 18 Asians — men and women — during a raid on a number of suspicious apartments in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to a security source police acting on information raided the apartments and arrested the flesh traders including pimps and referred them to the authorities.
Police grab man for brewing: The Salhiya police have arrested an unidentified Asian man for brewing alcohol inside his home in Murgab, reports Al-Dar daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on a tip-off put the bootlegger under surveillance and caught him red-handed while selling booze to a police agent.
Police then raided the man’s apartment and seized from him 12 bottles of booze ready for sale in addition to an unidentified sum of money believed to be proceeds of sale from the illegal trade.
The bootlegger and the booze have been referred to the authorities.
Mentally retarded taken to custody: Police have taken into custody an unidentified 20-year-old mentally retarded youth who had allegedly escaped from the Psychiatric Hospital, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the youth disturbed passersby and motorists on the Canada Dry Street and then tried in vain to end his life by throwing himself in the path of moving cars.
Terrified motorists called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior and patrolmen were dispatched to control the youth and refer him to the authorities.
Teens arrested for theft: The Ahmadi police have arrested two Kuwaitis (16 and 17 years old) for committing thefts in Ahmadi, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources the youths were caught red-handed while stealing from one of the tents in the area.
The same sources the arrest came when police increased patrols in the area after four citizens had complained of valuables.
The suspects will be referred to the Public Prosecution after completion of investigations.
7 nabbed in selling fire works: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested seven people for selling fire works and fire crackers in Abdali and Al-Mutla’a, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a security source men were arrested on Wednesday during a campaign to arrest hawkers. Among those arrested are seven bedoun.
All those arrested have been referred to the Jahra Police Station pending referral to the Criminal Investigation Department.
