Draft bill on loans interest flawed, doesn’t ensure justice: Al-Rashed Address Bedoun issue: Adwah

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8:  A draft bill obligating the government to purchase the interest on loans obtained by citizens is flawed as it does not ensure justice for all, reports Arrouiah daily quoting MP Ali Al-Rashed.
Pointing out many Kuwaiti debtors have not registered at the Fund for the Needy, Al-Rashed stressed these debtors are holding on to the promise made by some parliamentarians to force the government to purchase the interest on their loans.  He called for the reopening of registration to the fund for the benefit of those who missed the first registration period due to the empty promises of some lawmakers.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed the Popular Labor Bloc intends to submit amendments to the fund next week to include all citizens who have obtained loans.  Sources disclosed the bloc proposed that citizens, who pay 35 percent of their monthly salaries for their loans, should benefit from the fund, instead of the 45 percent approved by the government.  However, he ruled out the possibility of reducing the percentage to 35 percent as it will negatively affect the public funds.
MP Khalid Al-Adwah, on the other hand, underscored the need to take decisive steps to address the loans and Bedoun issues.

In another parliamentary development, sources stated MP Mohammed Hayef is currently preparing a large number of questions for the ministers of Information, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs on the mechanism used to monitor religious channels, as a follow up to the queries he had earlier forwarded to Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipality Affairs Dr Fadhel Safar regarding the mosques and Husseiniyats.
Moreover, Al-Shahid daily has reported that MP Abdulrahman Al-Anjari was surprised when his colleague, MP Maasouma Al-Mubarak, announced the arrival of a delegation from the Iraqi Parliament headed by Alaa Al-Saadoun to discuss many pending financial issues between Kuwait and Iraq.
Al-Anjari affirmed the Financial Affairs Committee at the Parliament has continued its discussions on the company law as scheduled.  He added the panel members have no idea about the alleged visit of the Iraqi delegation to the country.
