Indian Community School, Kuwait holds mega carnival
The Indian Community School, the oldest premier Indian School in Kuwait, hosted the 7th Mega Carnival 2010 on Jan 29. The success of the day long event could be judged by the mammoth community crowd that thronged the venue, Senior School Salmiya.
Chief guest, Ms Suaad Nauri Al-Musharee, Department Manager at the Directors Office, Ministry of Private Education, Government of Kuwait, was given a ceremonial reception by the School Band, the guests walking through a corridor formed by little children wearing lovely costumes adorned with colourful but unique hats. The inauguration ceremony was also graced by Ashok Kalra, Hon Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Archie Menezes Hon Vice-Chairman, Rajan Daniel, Hon Secretary, other members of the Board and Principals of ICSK School branches.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions organized by the Parent Advisory council. Also, felicitated were the outgoing leaders of the School Band. The Carnival souvenir with attractive advertisements sponsored by the elite corporate sectors in Kuwait is to be released soon.
The chill in the air was not to dampen the enthusiasm of the visitors, as they thronged the stalls and treated themselves to a day of fun, joy, mirth and festivity. As at every fete the games stalls held magnetic attraction for all. There was plenty for the ladies, from mehndi designs to jewellery clothes and bags. Those curious to know what the future held for them gathered at the palmist corner. How could anyone remain away from the aroma whiffing through the numerous food stalls displaying Indian and Continental cuisine?
However, the ‘star’ attraction was the Central platform, the venue for a host of activities, Magic show drawing loud applause each time the magician came up with his skillful tricks, the exciting spot prizes for unique combinations, the foot tapping music from the latest chart busters, some in the form of dedications were for all to enjoy. Several rounds of Bingo added a special thrill to the proceedings.
A community gathering with a truly community service in the form of a demonstration by the Fire Department personnel led by Col Hani Al-Khashan their latest fire fighting equipment and precautionary advisory against fire was deeply appreciated by all present.
The ‘Grand Finale’ of the event was the Mega Raffle Draw with attractive prizes that were artistically displayed on the platform.
The fun filled day offered a variety of activities that people of all ages enjoyed beyond their own expectations.
The aim of the annual event to create the School Welfare Fund was accomplished with success, for which, the school management expressed its gratitude to all the sponsors, parents, teachers, school staff, students and last but not the least the ‘well wishers’.
The crowd left the venue reluctantly wishing that more such events would come by often.
