Bomb scare at Salmiya departmental store Indians held for stealing telephone lines

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested two Indians for stealing telephone lines and offering illegal overseas call services, reports Arrouiah daily.
Armed with a search and arrest warrant police raided their apartment in Murgab and confiscated communications devices and a computer and referred them to authorities.


Hoax Bomb call: Rescue officers swiftly responded to a hoax bomb call at The Sultan Center in Salmiya Monday morning. According to a security source, the Security Department of the shopping mall received a call claiming there were explosives within the premises, so they called the Operations Room in return for assistance. Rescue officers from Hawally, special forces anti explosive officers combed all surroundings of the shopping mall to sniff out possible discovery of planted bomb within the vicinity but there was none. The officers had initially evacuated shoppers and employees from the mall and spent three hours searching for the explosives before declaring the environment safe for continuation of activities. The officers have recorded the hoax call conversations and are making efforts to arrest the callers for investigation. They have also registered a hoax bomb scare and disturbance to the constituted authority cases against them.
In his submission, the Ministry of Interior’s Public Relations Director Colonel Mohammad Hashim Al-Sabr disclosed that the call came in around 11:33 am. He explained that the Operations Room immediately detached bomb detonation experts, trained dogs, paramedics and other related agencies to control the situation.
He added that after concerted efforts by the officers to locate the explosives, it was dawned on them that it was a mere hoax bomb call.   

Computers stolen: Police are looking for unidentified persons for stealing computers from eight trucks worth KD 4,000 each. This happened when the trucks were parked in an open area in Amghara, reports Arrouiah daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.

Wolf attacks guard
: A Bangladeshi guard of a livestock pen in Kabad who was attacked by a wolf while trying to protect his flock from the animal, has been referred to the Farwaniya Hospital, reports Al-Anba daily. It has been reported the wolf killed three sheep.

Car set afire: Police are looking for an unidentified arsonist for setting fire to stolen car in Ardhiya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Acting on information firemen rushed to the spot and put out the fire. It has been reported the owner of the car had earlier reported to police that his car had been stolen by unidentified persons.
According to reports this is the fourth incident of its kind within a week in the same area.

Asian selling porn CDs: Police have arrested an Asian man for trading in CDs containing porno materials, reports Al-Dar daily.
It has been reported the man was caught red-handed while selling the CDs to a police agent.
The CDs and the suspect have been referred to the authorities.
