Police intensify probe to solve riddle of missing Pakistani girl
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Securitymen investigating the alleged murder of a Pakistani teenager in Khaitan have found some clothes in a school. Forensic report states that the dirt found on the clothes was similar to that found on the accused, an Egyptian expatriate, but it couldn’t be confirmed whether the clothes really belonged to the victim.
The accused had confessed to the crime and even reenacted the crime in front of a public prosecutor. He claimed that he killed the girl and threw her remains in a garbage container. Securitymen, however, could not find the remains, even in the waste dump sites in Sabhan.
Sources say Criminal Evidence Department men are trying to summon a friend of the victim, who for unknown reasons, left the country immediately after the crime. Security authorities are reportedly planning to seek Pakistani authorities’ help in this regard.
Meanwhile, according to a local Arabic daily Al-Dar, Alaa Khalaf, who is in custody of the Criminal Investigation Department for allegedly murdering a Pakistani girl, identified as Maryam Fadhel, has reportedly admitted to raping 18 people, quoting top level security sources.
However, he is said to have recanted his confession saying he had confessed under duress. He says he has committed only one rape crime and that too was not reported to police by the victim’s family.
However, the sources added the suspect may be referred to the Psychiatric Hospital to determine the mental state of his health.
In another development the uncle of the ‘murdered’ Pakistani girl, identified as Sheikh Bashir, says he strongly believes his niece is still alive and her lover Tajamal, may have hidden her at the home of his friends or may have even sold her to the pimps and forced her into prostitution.
The uncle added he has received a phone call from his nephew saying Maryam left the house and disappeared. So he went to see Tajamal and the latter admitted to receiving a call from her 15 minutes ago, on the day she is said to have disappeared, and then he left for Pakistan.
He added he received another call from Tajamal’s friend and he said Maryam had eloped with her lover.
He went on to say he strongly believes she is alive because her remains have yet to be found.
