Kuwait relief supplies reach Haiti 30 tons of tents sent

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, Feb 6, (KUNA): The second batch of Kuwaiti relief supplies for the quake-stricken people of Haiti arrived on Saturday.
Jassem Qambar, Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society’s (KRCS) volunteer told KUNA that the second batch of relief supplies consisted of 30 tons of tents has arrived here today and would be dispatched for the people of haiti aboard trucks.
Qambar expresed thanks and gratitude for the excellent cooperation shown by the Red Cross of the Dominican Republic, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies with the KRCS for making this mission a success.
He added that the second batch of aid came in an initiative by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and by the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
He stressed that the KRCS’ President Barjas Hmoud Al-Barjas was keen on having this aid delivered as soon as possible as he is following keenly the developments in Haiti in terms of distribution of relief supplies.
He praised efforts exerted by all volunteers in this humanitarian mission.
He also asserted solidarity of all people of Kuwait with victims of this tragic incident.
An estimated 212,000 people were killed by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, making it the worst recorded natural disaster in the Americas.
