Danish woman, Kuwaiti youth’s ‘hot’ love affair ended by police 3 Indians, Syrian held for forging car ‘passing’ docus
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: Intensive investigations conducted by the personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department led to the arrest of a young Danish woman who had allegedly eloped to an unidentified location with a Kuwaiti youth 14 days ago, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to security sources the woman was arrested three days after her mother filed a missing persons report with the police saying her daughter left the house two weeks ago and did not return home.
Police linked the disappearance of the woman with that of a Kuwaiti youth who had left his home around that time and had not returned home.
The daily without going into details said police armed with a search and arrest warrant raided a furnished apartment in Salmiya and caught the ‘lovers’.
During interrogation the woman admitted to having sex with her boyfriend several times and blamed her mother for not allowing her to marry the man of her choice.
The lovers have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Forgers gang held: Police have arrested a four-man gang — a Syrian and three Indians — for forging car registration renewal documents, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrest came following forged documents submitted by an Afghan man to renew his car registration. He was detained for interrogation and he led the interrogators to an Indian man who had reportedly prepared the documents for him.
The Indian then guided police to two compatriots and they gave police information about their boss — the Syrian.
Acting on such information and armed with a search and arrest warrant, police raided the apartment of the Syrian and caught him red-handed in possession of 16 stamps used by traffic departments.
During interrogation the Syrian is said to have admitted to the charge. He also told police he has been practicing this illegal activity for a long time. He disclosed he helped 700 motorists to get the car registration renewed and charged between KD 20 and KD 100 depending on the condition of the vehicle.
A police source added those who sought the help of the forger to get their car registration documents renewed will be referred to the Public Prosecution. They may even be deported from the country, the daily added quoting security sources.
Iraqi gets death: The Criminal Court has sentenced an unidentified Iraqi man to death by hanging for smuggling drugs into the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The accused was arrested at the Abdali border post while attempting to smuggle 62 kilos of hashish into the country hidden in the secret compartment of his truck.
Colonel under probe: The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department Brigadier Sheikh Ali Al-Yousef has ordered the formation of a committee to interrogate a police colonel who is accused of abusing his authority and disobeying orders from his superiors, reports Al-Rai daily.
Quoting one incident, a police source said a Bangladeshi was arrested for trading in overseas calls and Brigadier Al-Yousef had ordered his deportation, but the colonel allegedly released the man from detention.
Tainted milk banned: Direc-tor of the Imported Food Department at the Kuwait Municipality Khalid Al-Zamhoul said the department has issued instructions to stop the sale of baby milk ‘Hero Baby’, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The milk carries manufacturing date May 12, 2009 and expires in November 2010.
It has been reported the milk is contaminated with the ‘Entro bacter sakazakii’ bacteria. Al-Zamhoul added this step was taken after a similar decision was issued by the UAE authorities and a warning issued by Saudi food and medicine authority.
Duo selling pirated CDs: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested two Bangladeshis for violating intellectual property laws by trading in pirated CDs and DVDs, reports Arrouiah daily.
Acting on information and armed with search and arrest warrant, police have raided the apartment of the suspects in Bneid Al-Gar and caught them in the act.
Police have confiscated from the men large quantities of pirated CDs and DVDs and a duplicating machine.
Asian in forged entry: Police have arrested a Bangladeshi man for entering the country on a forged passport, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to sources the man was arrested in Al-Zour. When police asked the man for his ID, he presented his passport and the officer discovered the picture on the passport did not belong to the holder.
He was taken to a police station and during interrogation he admitted to buying the travel document from his compatriot in Bangladesh.
He has been referred to the authorities.
Drug peddler nabbed: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man in his 30s for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The man was caught for driving recklessly in Sabahiya and when police approached him to check his personal documents, he looked disoriented. Police have also seized from the man nine fingers of hashish and referred him to the authorities.
3 bootleggers caught: The Farwaniya police have arrested three Asians for manufacturing booze, reports Al-Anba daily.
This came when police arrested an Asian taxi driver with three bottles of booze and during interrogation he informed police about the bootleggers who were manufacturing booze.
Armed with a search and arrest warrant police then raided an outhouse in Khaitan and arrested the suspects and seized from them liquor manufacturing equipment and a number of barrels containing raw material.
The contraband and the manufacturers have been referred to the authorities.
