Court adjourns ‘Jihadists’ hearing : The Court of Appeals adjourned Sunday its hearing on State Security case number 6/2009 until March 7, 2010 due to the suspects’ absence at the session.
An appeal had earlier been filed by the six suspects convicted of traveling to Pakistan and undergoing training on firearms and ammunition to fight US forces in Afghanistan.
On Sept 30, the Criminal Court sentenced the six suspects to three years in jail and ordered them to pay KD 300 each for suspending the sentence after declaring them guilty.
The Public Prosecution has charged Salah S., Saad N., and Salah H., with carrying out hostile actions against a foreign country (Pakistan) by joining a training camp for the use of firearms and ammunition in its territories, which was deemed harmful to Kuwait’s relations with a friendly country.
The suspects have also been charged with undergoing training on firearms and ammunition even if they were aware that their trainers intend to use them to fight allied forces in Afghanistan.
The Public Prosecution has charged the other three suspects — Abdurrahman S., Adel A. and Mohamed S. — with collaborating with the first three suspects to commit the said crimes by arranging their travel to Pakistan and providing them with money and names of people who can help them.
The session was presided over by Judge Saleh Al-Muraishid.
