Del Pilar, Satorre seize control in Men’s A Villanueva, Casano lead Ladies B
KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 20: It was action, action, and loads of action throughout the day at the Handball Gym in Kazma in Adailiya, Friday when the Filipino Badminton Club in Kuwait (FILBACK) Inter-Commercial League 2010 continued its mouth-watering matches with solid smashes and over-the-net cross court drop shots dominating the proceedings.
This week saw Jabbar Farooqi lead the standings with 233 points while Noor had 184 points in Men’s Higher and Lower O. Men’s Higher and Lower A was seeing the toughest competition so far with Michael del Pilar on 310 points and Roy Satorre on 329 points while Jonathan Munalem and Rey Lubaton were in control in Men’s Higher and Lower B event with 254 and 276 points respectively.
Cesar Isidro stayed on top of the class in Men’s Higher C with 306 points with Butch Bagahansol dominating the lower class with 280 points, Ladies B Higher and Lower class was led by Mercy Joy Villanueva with 192 points and Regina Casano 201 points while the Ladies Higher and Lower C category were being ruled by Rosita Arroyo on 243 points and Venus Paquizasel 242 points.
Men’s O
In Men’s O Chandra Mouli and Amith Balakrishnan tamed Pushkaraj Altekar and James 21-15, 21-18, D.G. Supul and Mohammad Nadeem outclassed the good pair of Dr. Manimara “Doc Mani” Chozhan and Olan Patriarca 21-18, 15-21, 21-19 and Chandra Mouli and Anil thrashed Mathew Jacob and Nestor Matondo 21-12, 21-13.

In control of Men’s Higher A was Michael del Pilar when he was paired with Edison dela Cruz and crushed Vijay and James Briones in back to back sets 21-19, 21-19, while Harinath and James Briones edged Ed Buensuceso and Edison dela Cruz 19-21, 21-14, 21-18, Ramil Cadano and Roy Satorre overwhelmed Francis Enriquez and Nestor Farinas 21-18, 21-14, Chan Basha Shaik and Edison dela Cruz outlasted Richard Amoto and Thajik Umeer 15-21, 21-13, 21-19 and Ramil Cadano and Nestor Farinas fought for every point to overcome Leo Regner and Ray Allan Sayoto 21-8, 25-23.

Rosita Arroyo and Vanessa Hinolan were made to sweat before they could edge Maribeth Santua and Rosalie Galvez 17-21, 21-18, 24-22, Marie Grace Calungsod and Frenel Gene Garcia overwhelmed Maribeth Santua and Janet Gravador 21-12, 21-11, Cristina Baylon and Aileen Buenaventura overpowered Bebsy Briones and Chato Guillermo 21-12, 21-19 and Cherry Manaytay and Vanessa Hinolan overcame Rosita Arroyo and Janet Gravador 21-13, 21-20.

Meanwhile, Marie Grace Calungsod and Malou Lubaton outlasted Fe Isabel Adarne and Rosalie Galvez 21-16, 11-21, 21-19 after losing the second and fighting back in the third, Maricris Malilay and Frenel Gene Garcia outclassed Cherryl Manaytay and Janet Gravador 24-25, 21-18 21-18 but the match was closer than the score indicates as both the pairs fought all the way until the game was finished, and Maricris Malilay and Venus Paquizasel found the going easy to crush Bebsy Briones and Aileen Buenaventura 21-5, 21-15.
