Two Indian Bootleggers nabbed
Security officials from the Farwaniya directorate raided a flat in the area and arrested two Indian expatriates for manufacturing locally-manufactured alcohol.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials lured the expatriates into selling them some alcohol and arrested them when the suspects reached the meeting place. They then raided their flat and found 180 barrels of alcohol along with the equipment used to manufacture the liquor.
The two accused and the confiscated items were referred to the authorities for further action and a case was registered.
Meanwhile, in their on-going campaign against crooks within the Capital governorate, three Indian nationals have been apprehended by night patrol officers for trading in local liquor.
The officers raided the suspects’ flat in Salhiya, following a tip-off about their activities, and discovered a huge quantity of local liquor ready for sale.
One of the culprits had reportedly tried to escape, but securitymen managed to arrest him. The suspects, with the items, have been referred to the authorities for further investigation.
Cash stolen from eatery: Police are looking for a burglar who broke into a restaurant in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and escaped with KD 300 cash, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
Hoax bomb caller hunted: Police are looking for an Arab woman for disturbing police. She reportedly called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior and said a bomb had been planted at a private university in Abu Halifa, reports Al-Rai daily.
Acting on information bomb disposal experts rushed to the spot but found no explosives.
According to police the woman called from a laundry in the area.
Asian driver injured: An Asian driver was seriously injured when his truck loaded with bricks overturned on the Fifth Ring Road, reports Al-Rai daily.
Traffic was blocked for more than 20 minutes before road was cleared for vehicular movement.
Top hospital official hurt: Director of Pharmacies at the Farwaniya hospital was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision near the gate of the hospital, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports police called the firemen to rescue two persons who were trapped in their vehicle.
A police report said the accident was caused by one of the motorists who skipped the red traffic light.
