KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: Security officials arrested an Asian woman and an Arab man for giving birth to a child out of wedlock, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to sources, the Asian woman’s sponsor heard her screams while she was giving birth to the child in the room and called security officials. The maid and the baby were referred to the hospital where she provided information about her lover. The daily did not give further details.
In another unrelated development, security officials arrested a housemaid for killing her newborn baby in Firdous, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a police source, the maid’s sponsor saw her repeatedly hitting the baby’s head to a wall on the roof of the house and took both the mother and child to Farwaniya Hospital. The infant, however, was declared dead on arrival.
During interrogation, the maid revealed that the baby was the outcome of an illegitimate relationship with a person whose identity she refused to divulge. A case was registered against her.
‘Iraqis’ in Farwaniya: MP Dr. Wale-ed Al-Tabtabaie has requested the Minister of Interior to conduct an investigation regarding a wedding party that took place in Farwaniya recently, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to sources, many people wore disdashas for the wedding and sang songs in the traditional Iraqi style. The partygoers also abused eminent religious scholars from Saudi Arabia and Syria.
Al-Tabtabaie said a person posted the video online on YouTube and received several views. He added that the Bedouns repeatedly made claims in the video that they have no mother country except Kuwait.
MP irks police, family: In an unpre-cedented development that is being considered an interference in the duty of the police and a violation of the privacy of individuals, MP Mohammed Hayef Al-Mutairi placed a false call to the police, informing them about a party full of transvestites at a wedding reception in South Surra, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Security officials from the Hawally governorate rushed to the scene on receiving information about the party but found only a group of women hosting a birthday party for a girl. The host family expressed outrage at the incident and vowed to file a lawsuit against the lawmaker.
A source said the Ministry of Interior made a mistake by letting the officials follow orders from an MP.
Saddam, Zarqawi cards on sale: Security officials arrested an Indian expatriate at the Friday Market for selling playing cards carrying pictures of Saddam Hussein and match books carrying pictures of Al-Qaeda terrorist Mesa’ab Al-Zarqawi, reports Al-Anba daily.
During interrogation, the Indian said he bought the items two days ago from a Kuwaiti citizen without realizing the repercussions of his act. A case was registered.
Two suicides averted: Security officials and firemen rushed to the house of a Kuwaiti man in Omariya and saved the life of an Indonesian housemaid in her 30s who threatened to end her life by jumping from a height, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The officials, firemen and paramedics reportedly spoke to the woman for 60 minutes before they managed to calm her down.
Meanwhile, officials did the same job and saved the life of an Asian who threatened to jump from his sponsor’s house in Naeem area, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Asian was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Two cases of attempted suicide have been registered.
Police hunt burglar: Security officials are on the lookout for an unidentified burglar, who broke into the house of a Kuwaiti man in Nahda and escaped with all the electrical items and valuables, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrived at the scene and collected fingerprints to help identify the culprits.
Meanwhile, the officials are also on the lookout for the guard of a livestock pen in Kabad for running away with 7 sheep.

Traffic crackdown: Farwaniya traffic police launched intensive campaigns against traffic law violators, during which they locked 80 vehicles and impounded 20 others, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Personnel from the Technical Tests Department in Mubarak Al-Kabir launched a similar campaign, during which they impounded 12 cars and issued 137 violations.
Officials from the Ahmadi directorate also issued 360 violations, impounded 10 cars and confiscated 40 driving licenses during a similar operation in the area.
Copper taps with trio: Three Asians were arrested in Jahra for stealing copper safety taps from electrical transformers, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Security officials on routine patrol duty in the area noticed suspicious behavior on the part of the Asians and stopped their vehicle. The culprits were arrested after the stolen items were found in the wagon, ready for sale at Amghara scrapyard.
Calls trade flourishes: Security officials from the Jahra directorate raided ten apartments in the area and arrested several Asians for providing illegal international telephone calls to members of their community, reports Al-Anba daily.
While all the equipment used to provide the calls was confiscated, the arrested persons were sent to the authorities.
Meanwhile, security officials from the Capital governorate arrested a number of Asians for manufacturing liquor and providing illegal international telephone calls, reports Al-Anba daily.
The officials, armed with warrants, raided a suspected apartment and made the arrests. The alcohol barrels were confiscated and the apprehended persons were referred to the authorities for further action.
Drunkard goes to pray: Security officials managed to arrest a man under the influence of alcohol in a mosque in Bneid Al-Gar, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to sources, the drunkard repeatedly asked the preacher to calm down and deliver his sermons softly. He also kept enquiring whether the preacher was feeling well. He was referred to the authorities after the sermons ended.
