Maid attempts suicide; two held with gun, 39 rounds of ammunition

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: A Kuwaiti citizen aged 30 years was arrested in possession of eight bottles of imported liquor and two fingers of hashish in his car in Hawally Thursday night.
Security officials on routine patrol duty in the area noticed suspicious behavior on the part of the citizen and stopped his vehicle. They approached him and found that he had become flustered. A search of his car then revealed the contraband. He was arrested and referred to the authorities for further action.

Maid attempts suicide: A Sri Lan-kan housemaid was admitted to Adan Hospital after a failed attempt to commit suicide by consuming a bottle of cleaning liquid in her sponsor’s house in Qurain on Thursday.
Security officials and paramedics rushed to the scene on receiving information that a woman was lying unconscious in a house in Qurain and rushed her to the hospital. A case has been registered and investigations are on to determine the reason behind her actions.

Pakistani injured in fall: A Pakistani expatriate sustained several injuries after he fell from a height from a building under construction in Abdullah Mubarak on Wednesday.
Security officials and paramedics rushed to the scene on receiving information about the incident and referred the victim to Farwaniya Hospital. On questioning the others present at the location, it was revealed that the expatriate fell after he lost his balance while on duty at the site.

Gun, rounds of ammo seized: The Farwaniya police have arrested two Kuwaitis in their 40s for possessing a gun, 39 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of hashish while driving along the King Faisal Expressway, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
It has also been reported both men were wanted by police in connection with drug charges. One of them had also been sentenced in absentia to two months imprisonment for drinking alcohol.


3 youths assault 2 barbers: Two barbers who were badly beaten by three youths over a dispute have been referred to a hospital for treatment, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources the youths came to the shop for a haircut and body massage. Later the youths were involved in an argument with the barbers because they demanded KD 25, for service rendered to the three youths.
Both sides were involved in an argument and insults were traded. The youths then got angry and beat the barbers and escaped without paying the money.
It is not known if a police case has been filed or not.


Syrian man injured: A Syrian man who fell from a building under construction in Saad Al-Abdullah city has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Jahra Hospital, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The man was rushed to the hospital by paramedics.
A case has been registered at the area police station. Some of the co-workers have been detained for customary interrogation.

24 injured in fight: Twenty-four people were injured, two of them seriously, during a fight among drunkards inside a camp in Jahra, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior acting on information rushed to the spot and took control of the situation.
According to eyewitness reports it started with heated arguments and ended with those involved in the fight stabbing each other with knives.
The drunkards have been arrested and detained at the Jahra Police Station. A case of fighting, using foul language and drinking alcohol has been registered against them.
The seriously injured men have been referred to the intensive care unit of the hospital.


Tent stolen: A Kuwaiti man, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentified person of stealing his tent which was pitched in Al-Mutla’a, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Police are looking for the suspect.


Man held for KD 6,500 fraud: The Hawalli police have arrested a 45-year-old bedoun man wanted by law in connection with KD 6,500 financial fraud and possessing 12 bottles of locally-manufactured booze, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
He has been referred to the concerned authorities.


‘Gay’ arrested for hoax call: Police have arrested a ‘gay’ for making a hoax call, reports Arrouiah daily.
The Operations Department of the Interior Ministry received a call from a woman screaming for help saying she and her sister had been kidnapped by unidentified persons.
When police went to the address given by the caller, they did not find anyone. However, on checking with the telecommunications company police discovered the phone is registered in the name of the suspect. Police investigations are continuing.


Citizen severely beaten: The Jahra police are looking for two bedoun men for severely beating a citizen of an unidentified GCC state and leaving him in a pool of blood, reports Al-Anba daily.
Acting on information from passersby the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior dispatched paramedics and rushed the man to the Jahra Hospital.
The daily added when paramedics arrived at the scene the victim was unconscious. It has been reported the incident happened due to an old dispute.
