Teacher protection law still being discussed: Al-Sahli
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: Head of the Kuwait Teachers’ Society Ayed Al-Sahli asserted that the society is working to categorize the teaching profession as a challenging job, as this achievement will be a turning point for teachers, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press statement, Al-Sahli said classifying teaching as a challenging profession will increase employee satisfaction, both mentally and financially. He added that the teacher protection law is still under deliberation by the parliamentary educational committee, informing that it is referred to as the profession practice law.
Al-Sahli elaborated saying a letter was sent to the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mudhi AbdulAziz Al-Humoud, asking her to pursue the draft law in the parliamentary educational committee. He added that MP Ali Al-Omair was also contacted with regard to this issue.
On the other hand, Secretary-General of the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program (GMRP) and manager at a private company Hind Al-Subaih said the educational file is an important one since it imparts knowledge to all generations of society. She added that many facilities should be added and specified for working women in this field since they take on the responsibility of educating the public, while managing their personal lives as well.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Undersecretary for General Education Mona Al-Logahni said the committee that was formed to study the new science syllabus for the sixth and seventh grades is still following up on reactions from students’ parents and some school administrations.
